Etiquette for Trading Product with Another Consultant

Though it is against corporate policy to purchase products from other consultants, trading is allowed and encouraged to fill backorders, achieve product variety, etc. Below are some trading guidelines, but be sure to communicate with the person you are conducting the trade with beforehand to make sure you mutual expectations are being met!

  • Always trade product of equal retail value (note: if you are trading for product that is discontinued/marked down, most consultants will trade for the current value vs. full retail.  Be sure to discuss this beforehand).

  • If you are the consultant in need of an item, it is YOUR responsibility to pick it up from the consultant if she lives locally. Do not ask her to drop it off for you.

  • If the product is being mailed to you or your customer, ALWAYS reimburse the consultant who is helping you out for shipping costs.  The exception to this rule would be if you are each in need of items that the other has.

  • If shipping a product directly to another consultant’s customer (at her request) include her return address on the package. Do not include your business card and don’t forget to remove your personal label from all items being shipped to other consultants customers.

  • Product packaging should be in good condition and should be the current version (unless discussed/agreed previously)

  • Be sure to complete trades in a timely fashion. If it's not an in-person swap, be sure to communicate when the product you owe will be delivered.

It is good sense to trade with consultants you know and trust. As a general rule, your Director will not get involved in trade disputes.

Trading is a wonderful tool – use it! Always fulfill trades promptly and earn a reputation as a GREAT trader!
